An early Victorian mahogany library chair circa 1850 in the manner of JG Crace in lovely original condition carved all round with interlocking chain decoration and in the original fabric.
An almost identical chair but without the carving was sold from the Collection of
Archibald Sterling of Keir, Christie's House Sale, Keir Mains, Dunblane, Perthshire, lot 1263
Illustrated in situ A. Rowan, 'Keir-Perthshire-III' Country Life, 29 August 1975, p.510 and another similar was supplied to William Gibbs Esq for Tyntesfield by J G Crace in 1855-6 for £17 -6 and is presently in the library there now open to view through the National Trust
